So if i wanted, i should be able to tilt the perspective in a way that lets me look at both ships just like in FTL1, from above. I suggest to allow to tilt the camera perspectives on your and enemy ships in combat by holding right mouse button in respective viewport. While i understand the notion of wanting to show off the models of the pretty ships, substance before style. In this game, the slanted perspective for example makes it more difficult to see where you are aiming with the cutting lasers, there is seemingly no highlight to see what rooms are going to get affected too. It was clear cut, very vibrant, very defined. One of factors for FTL1's success was the clarity it provided when dealing with combat. Isometric/Slanted perspective makes for poorer clarity when in combat. Next some comments on the stylistic choices to present the game and some of it's aspects: I think everything else about the UI is fine and works well. It might be just my poor boomer eyesight, but i feel like you could easily make them 1.25x - 1.5x the size, they look very well and being the size they are i struggled with recognizing what ever some things are supposed to be. Character Portraits in conversations/events could be bigger. So hovering over the Black Hole sign will show Black Hole Tooltip. Perhaps consider making it a toggleable, draggable window so user can reposition it at will?Īlternatively, instead of using a Legend: When you mouse-over a sign on the Map, it will just show the tooltip of what that sign is. Right now toggling the Legend, makes it be somewhere bottom-middle-ish position on screen. Map Legend could be docked to bottom left side of the screen and be toggleable, so i can decide whether it should always be on screen and get rid of it at will. The few things i wished about UI being different: It looks impressive and immersive, i had very few issues with the UI and generally had a positive experience. Thank you for uploading the Demo, i gave it a fair try and since Devs deliberately pointed out they wished for FTL2 and this is what they are going for, my feedback is heavily influenced by drawing parallels from this Demo to FTL1.įirst of all, well done on the visual side.
